Question 1: What can we find in this website?
Our website covers reading articles, video teaching, letter sounds, blending sounds, sight words, reading challenge and many other areas. Full details and the learning process are demonstrated to students in the site. If you have further questions concerning our content, please email us at speak@e-school.hk.

 

Question 2: Who should use this website?
Prime English 英語正音聆聽課程 is specially designed for children from primary one to six. It provides pupils with a fun and interesting way to learn how to ‘sound out’ English in an appropriate manner and to become familiar with the British English accent.

 

Question 3: How can I subscribe to Prime English英語正音聆聽課程?
Please send us a message to speak@e-school.hk, and we will contact you with further information.

 

Question 4: The web pages don't show any pictures and I have problems of hearing the sound files. Why?
The Macromedia Flash Player software is not installed properly or is not the most updated version. To solve this problem, please install or updated the software first, and go to the Flash Player Download Centre to install it again. Please see Question 7, "To install Macromedia Flash Player", further down on this page.

 

Question 5: When entering the game area, I get a message "You are not authorized to view this page".
It's because the security setting of your Internet Explorer is too high, please refer to the "Authority Question" further down on this page.

 

Question 6: I have already keyed in the proper user ID and password, but I still can't log in. Besides, I get a message saying "The page cannot be displayed"(無法顯示網頁). Why?
Try to "Clear Temporary Internet Files". Generally, the problem can be solved by clearing the files (See the solution below on this page).

 

Question 7: How to install Macromedia Flash Player?
1. Go to this URL http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html to download or reinstall the most updated version of the Flash Player. Please note that there are different versions for different browsers.

2. After the installation is completed, please close your browser and reopen it, and visit our website http://speak.e-school.hk again.

1. Open the Internet Explorer browser (瀏覽器).
2. Click Internet Options (Internet 選項) on the Tools (工具) menu.
3. Choose the Security (安全性) tab.
4. Choose the Medium Level Security setting, then press the Default Level (預設層級) button.

5. Click the Advance (進階) tab, then choose the Reset to the Defaults (選原預設值) button.
6. Press the Confirm (確定) button, close the browser and restart it.

1. Open the Internet Explorer browser (瀏覽器).
2. Click Internet Options (Internet 選項) on the Tools (工具) menu.

Question 10. Cannot popup the recording panel
In the recording activity, if the recording window below is not shown properly, please close the popup blocker accoding to the following steps.
在錄音部份,若以下錄音視窗不能顯示,請根據以下步驟關閉popup blocker。

 

Step1:
Please check whether the Pop-up Blocker of the browser is turned on or not. If it is on, please click the Tools button on the browser menu, then points to Pop-up Blocker, and then click Turn Off Pop-up Blocker.
請檢查瀏覽器的快顯封鎖程式有沒有開啟,若已開啟請按瀏覽器功能表的工具→快顯封鎖程式→關閉快顯封鎖程式

Step2:
If Yahoo! Toolbar is installed in the browser, on the tools bar, please click on the down arrow of this icon , and then remove the tick before Enable Pop-Up Blocker.
若瀏覽器安裝了yahoo工具列,請在工具,列按 ,取消在 Enable Pop-Up Blocker 之前的剔號。

If Google Toolbar is installed in the browser, please click this icon and change back to this icon.

Question 11: I cannot record the passages in the Step 5 recording practice. Why?

 

Step 1: Try to follow the instructions of the video in the Step 5 introduction page and record again.

 

Step 2: Try to check if your microphone works.

 

For Windows XP:

 

(1) First, you should have a microphone that can be used in computers.

(2) Connect the microphone to the microphone port on your computer. Usually, it will be coloured red , or have a microphone image beside it.

(3) Click “Start” (開始) >> “Control panel” (控制台) >> select “Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices” (聲音, 語音, 和音訊裝置) >> “Sounds and Audio Device Properties” (聲音及音訊裝置) ;

 

(4) Click “Voice” (語音) and select “Test hardware” (測試硬體)

 

(5) Follow the instructions and go to the next step until you see the window below. Then, speak into your microphone and make sure you see the green sound wave on the screen.

 

(6) Click “Next” (下一步) and then “Finish” (完成). After finishing testing your microphone, you can go to the website and do the recording exercise.
(Remarks: The test above should be done before your first recording. If all the procedures are successfully completed, you do not need to do the above test again before each recording.)
(7) If the test above cannot be finished successfully, it means your microphone or computer might have some problems. You should try to find another microphone or computer to test again.

 

For Windows 7:

(4) Select Recording (錄製) >> Configure (設定)

 

(5) Select “Set up Speech Recognition” (設定麥克風) ;
Follow the instructions and go to the next step until you see the window below. Then, speak into your microphone and make sure your can see the green sound wave on the screen.

 

(6). Click “Next” (下一步) and then “Finish” (完成). After finishing testing your microphone, you can go to the website and do the recording exercise.
(Remarks: The test above should be done before your first recording. If all the procedures are successfully completed, you do not need to do the above test again before each recording.)
(7). If the test above cannot be finished successfully, it means your microphone or computer might have some problems. You should try to find another microphone or computer to test again.

 

Step 3: Adjust the Flash Player setting.

 

(1) On the homepage of our website, right click and select “Setting” (設定)

 


(2) Click the second option and choose “Allow” (允許) and tick the box “Memory” (記憶)

 

(3) Click the fourth option and adjust the volume yourself.

 


(4) After finishing the procedures above, press F5 to refresh the webpage or re-start the browser. Then, please right click again and select “Setting” (設定) on the homepage to check if the previous setting is successfully saved. Then you can try to do your recording exercise again.
